Summary

Chris Mara of Mara Machines and Welcome to 1979 displayed how he incorporates his tape machines with a DAW. He talked about some of the myths of tape machines and provided listening examples on why he utilizes tape. Using a session tracked straight to Pro Tools, Chris routed individual tracks out to a Mara 1/4″ 2-track and printed the audio back to Pro Tools. He showed an easy way to overcome the time delay when recording individual tracks through tape and back to a DAW. Chris also talked about routing mixes through tape and his overall tape mix workflow with artists. Attendees were able to route their own digital mixes through tape and print to Pro Tools to take home.
