AES Committees bring together industry leaders, educators, researchers, and practitioners to advance audio engineering through governance, standards development, education, publications, and community initiatives worldwide.

  • Audit Committee

The Audit Committee consists of the Treasurer, the President, the President-Elect, with the Executive Director and Secretary participating as guests. This Committee is responsible for general financial oversight, selection of an audit firm, and reviewing the 990 filing before publication.

  • Awards Committee

The committee compiles a list of candidates for the various awards presented by the AES. This list of submissions comes from its committee members and/or directly from AES Members responding to the Call for Awards Submission, published in the Journal and on the AES website each year.

The committee then reviews the accomplishments and achievements of these candidates in light of the outline of qualifications noted in the Bylaws (for Fellows and Honorary Members) and/or per the outline on the Awards online nomination web pages and Awards Committee Procedures.

Finally, they make a roster of recommendations to the Board of Governors as to which awards should be granted and when. They also include in this list all routinely nominated BoG Awards for Convention and Conference Chairs.

  • Historical Committee

The Historical Committee strives to unite persons interested in the history of audio engineering and its allied fields; educate the younger members of the audio industry in the evolution of the technology and techniques that they may take for granted; collect, write, publish, and otherwise disseminate accurate historical information about the field of audio engineering; and record and publish oral histories of individuals significant in the field of audio engineering.

    Membership Committee

The committee develops methods and assists in implementing them, not only to grow the number of members, but also to encourage members to continue their membership. Soliciting audio engineers and practitioners to become and stay AES Members will only be successful if AES membership is perceived to be a good value. Therefore, the committee also needs to find effective means to gauge the needs of the members and report on them.

  • Nominations Committee

The Committee compiles a list of eligible, capable, and willing candidates for the vacancies to be filled by the Annual Election.
