130th Recording Competition Judge: Ronald Prent

"After working throughout the world in top studios such as Wisseloord, Muscle Shoals, and Air Studios, Prent moved to Galaxy Studios, Belgium in 1999 where he was drawn by the dedication of the studio to pioneering new surround formats. He already had an impressive career as a recording and mixing engineer for the likes of Elton John, The Police, Mink Deville, Faith No More, Sade, Robert Palmer, David Bowie, UB 40, Paul Young and local big sellers such as Soulsister, Clouseau, The Scene, Volumia!, Patricia Kaas, Herbert Grönemeyer and Pur. Many more have been added over the years as his impressive client list continues to grow. Prent has been very involved in the development of DSD/DXD technology by Philips/Sony and in the design and development of the API Vision Console and the highly specialized SPL MMC console for multichannel mastering. He received the 2003 Horizon Surround Music Award for his mixing work with Dutch rock band, Kane, and more recently he has worked on a 5.1 surround trilogy for Simple Minds, an SACD for French cult band Indochine and a live DVD-video production for German top band Pur, as well as various multi-format releases for Hooverphonic, Natalia and The Pointer Sisters, Peter Maffay, Gotthard, Lacuna Coil, and Omar Hakim."
