130th Recording Competition Judge: Darcy Proper

"After a long tenure at Sony Music Studios in New York City, this Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer joined the team at Galaxy Studios, Belgium, in 2005. Proper earned her degree in Music Technology at New York University and spent many years as a classical engineer and editor and she brings much of what she learned in that arena to her mastering. Her expert skills run the gamut of recorded music earning her Grammy-nominations for her work on historical reissue projects for such artists as Billie Holiday, Charlie Christian, and Charlie Poole, while also winning TEC and Surround Awards for high-resolution 5.1 projects for artists such as Steely Dan, Eric Clapton, and Porcupine Tree. Recent projects include Donald Fagen, The Eagles, Phish, R.E.M., Kane, Alicia Keys, Katerine, Destiny’s Child, Peter B Maffay, Renée Fleming, and Ray Charles."
