AB - This paper investigates the stopband sensitivity of linear-phase FIR filters, specifically sensitivity degradation when the stopband level is on the order of the resolution of the tap weights. The tap weights of the FIR filter can be divided into subgroups and individually scaled so that sensitivity improves at a relatively small computational expense. This advantage can be gained only with a specific variant of convolution that exploits a common pattern of linear-phase FIR tap weights.:
