Low Frequency Control and Acoustical Optimising of Small Rooms Using the Schroeder Diffuser

Authors: Morton, Chris W.

AES Convention 5r · Paper 4034 · March 1995

Abstract

Broadband number theoretic sound diffusers, developed by Manfred Schroeder, have found wide acceptance in the acoustical treatment of small listening rooms in particular. By correct design and positioning of such diffusers in a small room almost the entire audible spectrum can be controlled, minimizing the use of more conventional acoustic materials, such as passive absorption, and giving a number of audible benefits. Measurements and listening tests conducted in rooms treated this way are compared to similar rooms without diffusers.:
