AB - In order to create good sound for classical open-air performances, it is not only necessary to have a good mix and amplification system but also to sound natural and the classical music needs the impression of ambience. This paper describes the sound concept of a performance of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra playing Beethoven's 9th Symphony at an open-air performance for an audience of approximately 30,000 people.
