The Measurement of Instantaneous Speed Stability of Instrumentation-Type Magnetic Tape Transport Systems

Authors: Balducci, Domenic

Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · Volume 12 · Issue 3 · pp. 226–230 · July 1964

Abstract

Means of measuring, on a continuous basis, the instantaneous speed stability of instrumentation-type tape transports are discussed. The performances of open and closed-loop tape drive systems, with and without automatic speed compensation, are compared. Conventional wow and flutter measurements are presented.
