Dead Spots as Resonance Effects of Electric Guitars

Authors: Heise, Ulrich; Bork, Ingolf

AES Convention 92 · Paper 3244 · March 1992

Abstract

The decay process of electro-guitar tones is greatly influenced by resonances of the guitar body, particularly the neck. Since the string vibrations are transferred to the body via the frets, the decay shortening effect of the so-called dead spots can be reduced by constructional methods.
