AB - The spacial radiation characteristics of a sound source and its interaction with a particular acoustic environment are important components in the perception of a real sound source -object.- This paper describes the main aims of the research program I.S.S.R., together with the application of its basic principles to three important fields of audio activity: live concert recording and sound reinforcement; studio recording of electroacoustic sources; and the recording and reproduction of MIDI-controlled systems.
