MUSICAM (ISO-MPEG Audio) Very Low Bit-Rate Coding at a Reduced Sampling Frequency

Authors: Rault, J. B.; Philippe, P.; Lever, M.

AES Convention 95 · Paper 3741 · October 1993

Abstract

An extension of the MUSICAM audio coding technique at a reduced sampling frequency is proposed as a solution to intermediate quality coding for news gathering and multimedia applications at bit rates in the range of 32 to 64 kbit/s per channel. The proposed scheme, which is compatible with the ISO International Standard -MPEG 1 Audio,- compares favorably with other coding schemes, such as CCITT G-722 at the target bit rates.
