Abstract

The wave-field synthesis concept is applied to the generation of sound reflections. For early reflections, which are of individual importance in room acoustics, the wave fronts are synthesized with full preservation of their spatial properties. For the generation of later reflections together forming the reverberant field, a more statistical approach can be chosen. This means that to the early reflection wave fronts a predesigned statistical reverberation tail is added having the required temporal properties.
