Really Real Time

Authors: Richmond, Charlie

AES Conference: 13th International Conference: Computer-Controlled Sound Systems · Paper 13-012 · December 1994

Abstract

Live performance places unusual demands on systems for simultaneity and interruptible processes. This paper reviews the classical definition of real time, develops new meanings for this often-used definition, and describes the impact of these requirements on selection of computer operating systems.
