Telephone Hybrid with an Automatic Dual DSP Feedback Canceler

Authors: Janssen, John H.; van Bokhorst, A. Martien

Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · Volume 38 · Issue 5 · pp. 355–363 · May 1990

Abstract

The signal leakage in conventional telephone hybrids can cause several problems in broadcasting telephone calls, such as coloration of the sound or howling when the telephone signal is fed back by the studio. Here a DSP solution is presented which automatically cancels both the hybrid leakage and the feedback caused by the studio signal. As a result, when many callers are connected simultaneously, selective return circuitry becomes unnecessary.
