Communicating with Professional Sound Products Using an RS-422 Serial Communications Interface and a Device Control Language

Authors: Rodgers, Bob

AES Convention 87 · Paper 2827 · October 1989

Abstract

The ability of professional quality programmable sound products and computers to communicate effectively and efficiently has been severely limited. No standard communications interface, designed exclusively for professional sound products, has been formally adopted. This paper will propose one viable means to control professional sound products using an inexpensive RS-422 communications interface and a simple device control language.
