AB - The Variable M/S stereophonic microphone system seems to be a neat solution to modifying the stereophonic recording angle, either during recording or in the postproduction process. This paper shows that angular distortion and the ratio of direct to reverberant sound can vary throughout the range of stereophonic recording angles created by different matrixing values, thus restricting considerably the operational range available.
