AB - A previous paper (1) described the use of Linear Predictive Coding for drm synthesis: this paper covers work performed since then, with particular emphasis on the methods and signals for driving a resonant drum model. The previous work used simple excitation consisting of rectangular bursts of uniformly distributed pseudo-random noise. Here we will look at Gaussian and Brownian noise which can also be filtered and/or have its time envelope modified. The methods for genrating these stimuli is reviewed and results presented graphically, with some comments about their auditory performance. A computationally efficient technique for the synthesis is proposed.
