Authors: Jason, M. Raymond

AES Convention 90 · Paper 3048 · February 1991

Abstract

In almost every studio in the world great reliance is placed on small desktop speakers for final quality control. How reliable is this method and what are the variables. The author gives the results of 2 years research with some revealing and disturbing conclusions. Measurements of time and frequency are shown, emphasizing the importance of correct group delay alignment in the 'near field' compared to a more 'open' acoustic environment.
