Authors: Bellis, F. A.; Brookhart, M. R.

AES Convention 58 · Paper 1298 · November 1977

Abstract

An extremely important part of a digital audio tape recorder is its ability to deal effectively with tape dropouts without causing objectionable disturbances in the reproduced sound signal. This paper describes several possible tape dropout error correction systems with emphasis on the number of tracks per audio channel, and the maximum length dropout which can be corrected.
