AB  - An unconventional above threshold compressor is described. The compressor controls the static gain of the system by comparing its threshold to the desired output level and adding gain as necessary. The compression curve employs a soft threshold, allowing continuous variation in compression ratio with input signal. A single threshold control fulfills the functions previously ascribed to threshold, gain, and compression ratio controls.
