AB - This paper discusses the problem of setting operating bias current so that the ultimate in performance can be obtained from -Long Recording- type tapes, which possess more critical bias-output characteristics than do the standard varieties. The results of a wide survey of commercial-recorder bias are given, and it is concluded that machines should be equipped with provision for bias adjustment.
