AB - A recently published mathematical law of energy density partitioning is used to derive some simple graphical relationships that must always be true for a proper physical measurement. In most of the measurements made by engineers, whether of acoustic, electrical, magnetic, or physical properties, it is possible to use these graphical relationships and tell, simply by looking at the data plot; 1) if the data were correctly taken; 2) if the system under analysis is minimum phase; 3) what the other component of a single component plot should be.
