AB - While most commercial synthesizers meet the expectations of musical applications, synthesizing bowed string instrument timbres remains a challenge, as they often lack the expressiveness and realism necessary to satisfy music enthusiasts. This difficulty arises from the complex acoustic characteristics and diverse playing techniques of bowed string instruments, posing a challenge for current synthesis methods. We apply an analysis-synthesis approach called Multiband Discrete Hilbert Transform (MDHT) to music tones. This method decomposes an input sound into parameters, allowing quality signal reconstruction while enabling flexible sound manipulation through AM-FM parameterization. This research evaluates the quality of synthesized audio by comparing it with the original input sounds and shows MDHTs potential to be applied to various instrumental timbres. In addition, we demonstrate real-time synthesizer based on this method, through a VST program.
