Increasing the Sweet Spot Size in Multi-channel Crosstalk Cancellation Systems
Convention Paper · Paper 10237 · October 2025
Abstract
The sweet spot in a crosstalk cancellation system can be expanded by using more than two loudspeakers, but the improvement remains insufficient. To address this problem, this study proposes a weighted contrast control approach that employs multiple control points and an acoustic contrast strategy instead of conventional inverse filtering. The proposed method enhances robustness by reducing dependence on the condition number of transfer function matrices, enabling an effective increase in the sweet spot size. Experiments conducted using a loudspeaker line array demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms multi-channel inverse filtering in both absolute and relative sweet spot sizes. Additionally, the proposed method achieves greater binaural channel separation at the target position and improved array output efficiency. These findings highlight the weighted contrast control approach as a robust and efficient solution for expanding the sweet spot in multi-channel crosstalk cancellation systems.
