Abstract

We are investigating a method to simulate the radiation characteristics of the human voice in six degrees of free-dom (6DoF) content. This method enables a representation of the orientation of an audio object of a human in the content and is expected to improve the reality of and immersion to the content. To practically represent the orientation of audio objects in all directions, three-dimensional radiation characteristics with sufficient resolution is needed. However, recorded radiation characteristics using surrounding microphone arrays are necessarily discrete, and are difficult to be satified with sufficient resolution due to the necessarily large measurement system. Thus, it is necessary to interpolate the three-dimensional radiation characteristics between actually placed microphones. In this paper, we compare three interpolation methods and verify which methods are appropriate for simulating the radiation characteristics of the human voice by subjective evaluation experiments.
