Authors: Anderson, R.; Jenrick, P.

AES Convention 41 · Paper 822 · October 1971

Abstract

This paper describes a test signal that applies a high-velocity, high-frequency excitation to the pickup, simulating sibilant sounds and overtones, which frequency produce ugly sounds on playback. The test may be used audibly, visually presented on an oscilloscope, or used to yield numerical results.
