AB - This paper deals with an important aspect of user immersion in interactive virtual environments. Problems with virtual objects located between sound sources and listener in virtual scenes are discussed. Three different methods of detecting sound source obstruction depending on the listener's (virtual) location are presented. Their advantages and drawbacks are evaluated. An outlook to further research necessities is given.
