Abstract

A new technique for the perceptual spatial-audio coding of sound stimuli that allows individualized spatial-audio presentation was evaluated psychoacoustically. The experiments were conducted in virtual auditory space using speech and noise stimuli. There were three sound conditions: (i) 'own ear,' using the listener's filter functions; (ii) 'different ear,' using another listener's filter functions; and (iii) 'encoded ear,' using a spatial-audio encoding.
