AB - With the ever increasing desire among electronic manufacturers to increasee production an decrease cost, designing for automation is becoming an industry standard procedure. PWB designers now consider the tenth-grid system common place. Computer-Aided-Design-and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) is in the forefront of all design considerations. Automated PWB assembly is a standard consideration in component layout and selection. In such a rapidly changing industry, it is the designers obligation to familiarize himself with the techniques, limitations, restrictions, and advantages of automated assembly. This paper will set forth guidelines for design of PWB's which are easily manufacturable using automated techniques.
