The Production of a Spatially Limited 'Diffuse' Sound Field in an Anechoic Room

Authors: Veit, Ivar; Sander, Harald

AES Convention 77 · Paper 2213 · March 1985

Abstract

Diffuse-field measurements are usually carried out in reverberation chambers. Often it would be very helpful to have a method which allows generating an artificial and spatially limited "diffuse" field in an anechoic room. Such a field has been realized using a system of eight independent sound sources uniformly distributed over a sphere surrounding the region of interest. Experimental results will be presented and discussed.
