Multiple Speed Tape Duplicating

Authors: Ooms, Johan L.

Journal of the Audio Engineering Society · Volume 14 · Issue 4 · pp. 343–355 · October 1966

Abstract

Tape copies can be made either by the method of direct recording or by magnetic printing. So far only direct recording has been successfully applied, ranging from the 1:1 normal speed to the 1:16 multiple-speed mode. Multiple-speed tape duplicating is very effective when manufacturing tape records of low nominal tape speed, i.e. 1 7/8 ips. Considerations of tape duplicator design are reviewed and the efficiency of their practical application discussed.
