Enhancements of Room Simulation with Dynamic Cues Related to Source Position

Authors: Martin, Geoff; Corey, Jason; Quesnel, René; Woszczyk, Wieslaw

AES Conference: 19th International Conference: Surround Sound - Techniques, Technology, and Perception · Paper 1891 · June 2001

Abstract

This paper proposes an enhancement of multichannel room simulation that provides dynamic processing of spatial characteristics according to sound source position. This enhancement, which includes the simulation of room modes and proximity to boundaries in the simulated room, provides cues that allow more precise sound source positioning, especially of moving sound sources.
