Sound Localization in a Videoconferencing System Based on Wave Field Synthesis

The application of wave field synthesis for the sound reproduction part of a life-size video conferencing system has been investigated. Sound localization experiments in the audiovisual environment of such a system were carried out to obtain the requirements of the wave field synthesis loudspeaker arrays in this specific application. Essential in the experiments was the interaction that occurred between the auditory and visual parts of the system. Current results are presented.:
