A comfortable and user friendly PC software for the design of loudspeaker systems was developed, including all tools from lumped element simulation of the cabinet behavior to creation and optimization of electrical crossover networks. Each loudspeaker design project is created by selecting and placing different modules (i.e., generator, network, driver) on a graphical workbench. The program is based on a general network solver algorithm for the analysis of linear, passive networks. Each module represents a two-port element which can be connected to other two-port elements. This allows the creation of any desired loudspeaker system structure from a single driver design problem up to a multiway loudspeaker with equalization networks and many more. Besides the simulation of bass cabinets, the import of measured driver data is possible. These measurement modules can be connected to network modules to calculate the transfer function of the whole system without the need of an experimental setup. To facilitate the tedious work of network optimization, a powerful optimization tool is implemented. This tool is able to handle all variable parameters of the project (not only the electrical parts of the crossover networks but also the acoustical and mechanical parts of a simulated loudspeaker cabinet).
