Application of the Reactance Transformation Method for the Design of Loudspeaker Band-Pass Systems

A method for the design of band-pass loudspeaker systems (subwoofers) based on the frequency transformation method is presented. The unitary frequency band of a prototype filter is resealed and the frequency response is shifted to the designed center frequency. The type of response e.g. maximally flat or equal-ripple does not change. Comparing the physical coefficients obtained from the analysis of an analogous equivalent electrical circuit with coefficients obtained from frequency reactance transformation of the prototype, the equations for the design of band-pass systems are obtained. This method has been applied for the analysis and the design of band-pass systems of 4th and 6th orders.
