Jither: The Effects of Jitter and Dither for 1-Bit Audio PWM Signals

Jitter in PWM audio can be induced due to timing errors in the PCM and/or PWM domain. Jither on the other hand is a controlled jitter pattern introduced into 1-bit PWM signals, having potentially beneficial effects (as is dither in PCM signals). The types and audibility of distortions induced by jitter/jither are examined using the PCM to PWM analytic mapper, for a wide range of signals.
