AB - The debate on how humans localize sound under reverberant conditions is addressed. A new lateralization model is presented based on knowledge of inner ear signal processing. An efficient algorithm is described which is designed to extract lateral sound position while suppressing disturbances created by succeeding reflections. Comparisons between data derived from lateralization experiments and model-based predictions are drawn.
