AB - Optical recording is promising storage media for the professional audio industry because it has large capacity, high reliability and is removable. This paper gives an overview of optical recording technology. It starts from principles of optical recording and explains numerous efforts for increasing capacity such as land and groove recording, and super resolution. The trend of standardization and the future technology are also described.
