Auditory and Non-Auditory Factors that Potentially Influence Virtual Acoustic Imagery

Both auditory and nonauditory factors affect the ability of a sound designer to manipulate auditory localization, distance, and environmental context perception. Results are presented from a study that parses the relative contributions of room acoustic simulation and head-coupled interactivity for mitigating localization errors. Consideration has been given to how both intentional and nonintentional visual and vibrational stimuli can affect the results.
