Optimization of Virtual Sound Reproduced Using Two Loudspeakers

An experiment on the subjective performance of virtual image accuracy when a sound source is reproduced by a two-loudspeaker array is reported. Assessments were made for a range of loudspeaker subtended angles and loudspeaker distances to identify the optimum loudspeaker positions for a given image location-knowledge relevant to designing multiloudspeaker arrays. Additionally, the effects on spatial sound reproduction due to different loudspeaker driver configurations and technologies were studied including near-field anomalies.
