Low Frequency Modelling Using 2 Port Methods

A frequency domain model of a direct radiating electrodynamic loudspeaker is presented. Using an analogy with 2 port methods in electrical network analysis, the loudspeaker model relates input electrical variables to output acoustical variables using a 2*2 matrix. The elements of this matrix are simple functions of conventional loudspeaker parameters. A special feature of the model is the ease with which it can be connected to other electrical and acoustic networks to build models of complete loudspeaker systems. This connectivity is demonstrated using several illustrative examples.
