This paper examines directly processing sigma-delta encoded audio signals. We will first review the problems of current approaches. We will then describe the various processing structures and discuss the effects of coefficient accuracy. Then hardware implementation techniques will be described. We will conclude by presenting examples of equaliser transfer functions implemented using this type of processing.
