The ACTS ATLANTIC project has developed demonstration equipment that addresses the problems caused by cascaded bit-rate reduction. The first area of application is a -continuity- or -presentation- suite involving MPEG 1 Layer II decoders and encoders using the audio mole to provide very nearly transparent cascading. The second is a post-production system using central servers and CORBA for network control.
