Passive and Active Control of the Low-Frequency Modes in a Small Room

This paper deals with the damping of the first modes in a small room through perturbations of their boundary conditions. This includes the use of appropriately tuned and placed passive resonators, as well as a global active control system, acting on a limited number of modes. The paper presents a simple analytical model suitable for this purpose and a few experimental results.
