AB - Signal processing aspects of the measurement and modeling of head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) are examined with application to the real-time mixing and reproduction of two-channel signals for headphone or loudspeaker listening. The implementation of the binaural synthesis filters is discussed, including head tracking and the simulation of moving sources. Accurate room effect reproduction can be included in the simulation without exceeding the capacity of recent programmable digital signal processors.
