An analysis of interpolation via least squares (LS) methods with emphasis on numerical solutions and an overview of LS signal modeling with emphasis on sub-space methods are presented. From this, an interpolation technique based on LS signal modeling is derived that benefits from the close relationship of the other two methods. Decoupling and iterative algorithms for the solution of the resulting equation system and the relationship to polyphase filtering will be presented.
