Polar Response Errors in Digital Crossover Alignments

This paper analyzes the off-axis error performance of several digital crossover alignments in both time and frequency domains. Three-dimensional plots reveal that the high-order filters exhibit substantial ringing off axis. Furthermore, there exists low-level interference between high- and low-pass functions that produce a comb filtering effect well away from the crossover frequency. The paper proposes the use of linear phase pseudo-analog alignments which minimize these characteristics.
