Maximum-Length Sequence Measurement of Room Impulse Responses with High-Level Disturbances

This paper discusses measurement of room impulse responses or sound system loop gains using low-level maximum-length sequence signals during performances. Characterization of measurement performance and requirements for different applications are studied. The influence of audience noise, speech, and music as disturbances during averaging is shown, and a new method for utilizing nonstationarity in the disturbance signals to improve the signal-to-noise ratio is presented.
