AB - Rapid flare-rate compression drivers and horns can produce a significant reduction in second-harmonic distortion (8 to 10 dB) compared to traditional low flare-rate large-format hardware but cannot maintain pattern control at long wavelengths as well as the traditional designs. For many music applications, such as studio monitoring, motion-picture applications and high-level music reinforcement, the tradeoff is beneficial, calling for multiple horn/driver families, each optimized for a particular frequency range.
