This paper discusses block diagrams of various pilot receivers as well as general considerations for the design of a doubler-type receiver. A tube and transistor pilot receiver is investigated in detail; circuit Q, intermodulation, harmonic distortion and circuit stability problems are examined. Finally, coil stability is studied and the results for two coil samples are presented.
